Our Cosmetic Dentistry Services
At Timmons Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry, our goal is to help you have a smile you are proud of. As your cosmetic dentist in Ocean Springs, MS, we have several strategies and tools we can offer to improve your smile. These include:
Dental Veneers
For many people, the surface of the teeth is the primary problem. Cracks, stains, and chips can make the smile look unsightly. Veneers bond to the front of the tooth to cover these problems. Porcelain veneers bond to the teeth using dental adhesive, which requires a slight abrasion of the supporting teeth. Composite veneers are made from a tooth-colored resin that naturally bonds to the teeth. Both are good options, though porcelain lasts a little longer but costs a little more than composite.
Crowns
Crowns are caps that sit on top of a broken, worn, or aged tooth to improve its look and give it better strength. They are also sometimes used to cover teeth that have root canals to protect them from future infections. Crowns get bonded to your teeth using dental cement. This does require your dentist to remove some of the enamel to ensure a tight bond. The end result is a functional tooth that can last between 5 and 15 years.
Teeth Whitening
Sometimes, all that you need to do to improve your smile is lighten up those teeth. Teeth whitening systems, done in your dentist’s office, are more effective than over-the-counter whitening products. They can lighten your teeth by several shades, removing the stains from drinks, medications, and poor habits. With the right product, you can have up to three shades of whitening in just a few visits to our office. Whitening cannot help all potential cosmetic issues, but if your primary concern is staining, it as a safe, minimally invasive way to approach the issue.
Dental Implants
Not all dentists who offer cosmetic dentistry perform implant procedures, but we do. Implants use small titanium screws bonded to the jaw to mount artificial teeth in place of natural teeth you have lost. Once the crown is in place on top of the implant screw, the tooth looks just like your natural teeth. You can chew and brush like you normally would once the area heals fully, giving you back full use of your mouth as well as a better overall look.
Dental Bridges
Your dentist can also replace missing teeth with bridges instead of implants. Bridges have crowns to fit over existing teeth that support an artificial tooth or set of teeth between them. Your dentist will bond the crowns to your healthy teeth, and the artificial teeth will sit in the gap and give you the function and appearance of natural teeth without the need for a more invasive implant procedure.
